************************************
Our class for Jan.-Feb., 2025 ************************************ Course Rationale: What is Impressionism, and how did it influence not only artists, but literature, music, science, and international culture? That question will be explored in the course of this class. We will learn about how the Impressionist movement got started, how it influenced various social, artistic, historical and even scientific trends, and how it can be used across the curriculum, not only in art, but in English, Social Studies, History, Music, Science and even Math. Finally, we will learn about new and interesting cross-disciplinary lessons for delivering content to students, including those from groups that are traditionally “under-served” in classrooms. Even if participants have previously visited any or all of the three sites, our goal is that they will learn, see and experience new things at each site, and will be better prepared to share their enrichment with their students, by developing and sharing appropriate/cross-disciplinary lessons which incorporate effective reading and writing strategies as well. |
