Course Rationale:
The ancient Greeks and Romans profoundly influenced the Renaissance, which profoundly influenced today’s culture, in almost every area (e.g. language arts, mathematics, sciences, history, social studies, even physical education, etc.).  Today’s educators can reap many benefits by learning more about Classical culture and the resources where it may still be studied in the 21st Century.  The purpose of this workshop is to provide and/or reacquaint educators with knowledge and experiences that will enable them to tap into the wealth of cultural resources available to them at three sites in the greater Los Angeles area that have resources for Classical (Greek and Roman) heritage.  Even if participants have previously visited any or all of the three sites, we anticipate that they will learn, see and experience new things at each site, and will be better prepared to share their enrichment with their students, by developing and sharing appropriate/cross-disciplinary lessons which incorporate effective reading and writing strategies as well.

Dates:             Nov. 7, 14, & 21/ Dec. 5 (all Saturdays) / Opt. Make up Day: Dec. 12, 2026 
Times:             8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (or when we finish)
Locations:      Getty Villa, the Huntington, the LACMA
Cost:               $175 (prepaid // includes all course materials and admissions)
Units:              2 Salary Points: Good for as long as you are an employee of the LAUSD
